“...Will you write your own fate, or have me write it for you? Because it will not be a happy ending, if you let me hold the quill.”
Background
“It was said that these beings exist in bibles, and were painted on the walls of churches as people prayed to the gods.. Asking for an Angel to be sent down to answer their prayers. Despite the abandonment of gods, it is told that.. People's prayers were answered. ‘Angels’ were sent down to the world, or perhaps, they had always been there… But these.. These were not true Angels, nor the ones written in the bibles and preached to the people… When their true motives and desires were discovered.. People quickly shouted bloody murder, asking for their prayers to be taken aback, for god to forgive them for their sins.”
“God isn't here to save you, you asked for this… Is this not what you wanted?” -An Unknown soul.
What was discovered in the lands of the archipelago was not real biblical Angels, although their main appearance showed very similar traits.. These were abominations, said to have occurred or come to be by a ‘second wind’ of life. People who were on their deathbed, or had just died.. Suddenly having their hearts jump back to life, Like a guardian Angel had been watching over them.. But slowly, As these people Mutated into Seraphs upon being brought back.. They realised quickly that they were not blessed. It takes a Seraph to bring someone back to turn them into another one of their kind.
Culture
The culture of a Seraph is Usually friendly, overly kind, Forgiving, At least- they appear to be, going around and trying to answer people's wishes and most desired things.. But on the inside, Seraphs just desire control, to manipulate the world to their twisted vision. As much as one may try to do good, those twisted instincts will always remain a part of them, and drive them to their end goals. Some do truly try to be a good person, despite their natural instincts and the little voice in the back of their head telling them to do harm.
Otherwise, they tend to keep to themselves- being quite antisocial due to their narcissistic instincts and behaviour. Most constantly travel to avoid any connections, or the connections ones do make, they use and manipulate to their advantage, even if they may not intend to, and truly do care for their connections.
Appearance
Serpahs at first give off a very accurate representation to the Biblical Angels, Human figures which had beautiful wings upon their back, White or black was not the only colours however, being dependent on the Seraph. They could also have up to Six wings to support their flight abilities. However they were always on the paler side of skintones, retaining their near-death appearance. Some of their eyes even remained dead-like; For example, If someone had sight before, and their eyes had completely lost colour before being brought back, their eyesight was now blinded and remained loss of colour.
However.. What makes Seraphs an abomination to the bibles, is their other appearance..
Seraphs rely on killing people and draining their souls of lifeforce to remain alive, Or draining the life from the people in the area with their aura, slowly and subtly. When they grow hungry, they turn into a more.. Feral form. Their Jaws unhinge to reveal a Shark-life mouth, Multiple layers of sharp teeth.. Their skin begins to stretch and tear, and their body begins to decay. Whatever beauty was hidden by their angelic looks… Turns into what can only be called an abomination.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Seraphs have an inherited zone of truth to them, within a 3m radius of them- you will suddenly feel inclined to tell the truth around them.. This only occurs if they are focused on you, if they are not, this will not work; on top of that, it is resistible.
They are also Talented in One field of magic alone. A Lot like Wraiths, they can only cast one form of magic, but are able to use up the whole circle of magic rather than limited to 3 subclasses, this being Divination. They cannot learn any other magic due to this.
Seraphs are also more highly resistant to diseases, Due to their Nature of being ‘brought back’ and their Radiant abilities to be able to help cure themselves. It is their blood that brings people back in the first place to turn them into a seraph.
Lastly, the strongest part of a Seraph is their wings- Unlike birds, which can easily have their wings chopped, Seraphs wings are thick pieces of Muscle, able to use them easily to fend off against attacks and act as shields. They can be lost, but it's a lot harder for them to be simply sliced off.
Weaknesses
Due to their Zone of truth, they are more inclined to believe that people are telling the truth when they are close to the person, and focused on them. They do not expect people to resist their aura-- Nor are they able to tell if someone resists, constantly believing that their aura works.
Seraphs, needing to feed off of lifeforce and peoples souls to even survive, make them highly weak to other magics which involve messing with their soul or lifeforce, mainly necrotic magic. If a necromancer were to try and drain the lifeforce from a Seraph, that too would send them immediately into a feral blitz.
Their twisted instincts, of wanting control and to spin the story of everything to their liking, also is a weakness- due to not being able to interact with people without always thinking of their own needs first, connecting with groups despite knowing you just like the group because they can fulfil your needs.. Or, that a Seraph can fulfil their need, but with their own hideous little twist.
Finally, Seraphs have normal Piercing/slashing/blunt damage weakness as Humans, their wings being the only part that's most resistant.
