Background
“When people think of Wraiths, they will describe to you a nightmarish spirit- covered in shadows with barely any sign of a true humanoid figure behind the fog, the only thing that gave such away was the fact it spoke, and had glaring glowing eyes.. And it spoke like her, Like my damn wife” -Jeramiah Wishton.
Wraiths is a form of superior undead that is able to roam in a spiritual form, rarely seen- especially during the daylight. These spirits are specifically created when a Dark circle of Magic user dives too deep into the dark arts, pushing themselves far beyond their limits to a point that their own magic ends up being their demise. Due to dying to such corruption from the dark arts, it sinks so deep as to affect their soul.. And forever stop their eternal rest. Until killed once more, of course. (haha, double-dead).
Appearance
Wraiths' appearances may vary, however they all have certain aspects in common that will tell them apart from normal wandering spirits. Firstly, Wraiths are always drenched in shadows, due to their souls being corrupted- And whatever could be seen of their somewhat humanoid figure would be in shades of dark gray or pure black.
Most of the Wraiths' features, despite their eyes, are usually concealed and unidentifiable.
However, Wraiths do have one other appearance… It is the appearance of the possessed dead… Blending into society.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
The Strengths that a Wraith holds revolves entirely around their high connection to dark arts due to being overtaken by their own Magic. Due to becoming a Wraith, they are no longer capable of any other magic auras other than the Dark circle, allowing them to have access to all subclasses. They have Access to Natural soul/Aura sight, as well as
gain the ability to see within such as well, barely being affected by shadow manipulation and darkness itself.
Due to their spiritual nature, they can hop between and possess dead bodies, using their dark magic to heal the bodies to be presentable and blend in. Lastly, depending on the body they possess, they also gain that body's strengths (and weaknesses).
They are only able to possess a living person, if the living person allows the spirit to enter.
Wraiths will not perish overtime like other races, able to live infinitely, until killed once more. (haha double dead)... However, this can lead the spirit to also slowly go insane overtime.
Weaknesses
Weaknesses of a Wraith are pretty simple, and their own condition can also add to their weaknesses. Due to being reborn from dark magic, They are extremely sensitive and weak to any divination magic, and are incapable of yielding any other magic. They are also weakened by Necroticism, due to its ability to interact and manipulate with the dead.
If the Body they are possessing dies after being healed and used as a puppet, it will affect the wraith and weaken the Spirit, making them even more vulnerable to Divination and even Necroticism, due to the dark arts ability of manipulating shadows and interacting with the dead. It will take them time to recover in spiritual form before being able to possess and raise another body of their own (About 1 OOC week).
Despite being in a shadowy form upon escaping their vessel's death, this does not stop them from being critically injured in such a form. in-fact, a Wraith can be put to rest with just one slash, due to having nothing to protect them in this state, as they would be heavily weakened from escaping death. This would lead to them having to recover for a moment upon fleeing from their shell of a corpse.
Whenever Body-hopping, they also have to wait to regain the body's strength back once healing the dead body. A way to tell that a Wraith is possessing a body or not, is by a Black mark upon the puppeted body; usually in the form of a rune upon the back of the body's neck. Another sign that gives them away could be little bits of shadows climbing up their skin idly, usually occurring after magic usage. There can be more signs, though it may depend on the Wraith.
